About Claxton Country Squares
The Claxton Country Squares Square Dance Club, in Claxton, Tennessee, is part of Area 5 of the Council of East Tennessee Square & Round Dance Clubs. This gives us outreach to Clinton, Oak Ridge, Knoxville, and all of the surrounding areas. In 1986, the club was founded and organized under the direction of Bob and Elena Tonkin. Bob continued as the club caller for many years. We dance both main stream and plus calls, and we welcome all dancers to join us for fun and fellowship on the first and fourth Saturdays of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Claxton Community Center on Edgemoor Road near the Bull Run Steam Plant. Our regular club caller is Mike Hoose. Mike calls on the first club dance of the month. We usually have a guest caller on the fourth Saturday of the month.
